Editor’s Note: The former title of Article II, “Recreation and Cultural Commission,” was changed to “Recreation Commission” 9-17-2015 by L.L. No. 2-2015.
The Town Board of the Town of Wheatland hereby establishes a Recreation Commission to replace the current Wheatland Recreation Commission.
The purposes of the Commission shall be as follows:
A. 
To define the objectives of public recreation and cultural services in the Town of Wheatland and to make plans and general policies harmonizing with said objectives.
B. 
To maintain the highest quality and standard of recreation services in the Town.
C. 
To serve as advisers to the Town Board regarding cultural events and activities.
D. 
To promote public appreciation of the arts and cultures.
E. 
To collaborate with county and state cultural organizations.
F. 
To establish a sound fiscal plan to achieve recreational goals.
G. 
To plan, develop and supervise all recreational, instructional and cultural programs in the Town.

A. 
The Commission shall consist of seven members who are residents of the Town and will serve for seven-year terms. Two Commission members may be youths 16 years of age or older.
B. 
Current members will continue to serve to the end of his/her current term.
C. 
Three members present will constitute a quorum.
The Chairman of the Commission will be appointed by the Town Board from the membership of the Commission. The Chairman will serve at the pleasure of the Town Board.
