No person at any time shall operate any motor vehicle, including trucks, tractor-trailer combinations and buses other than school buses, with more than five tons' gross vehicle weight on the entire length of the following highways in the Town of Crawford:

Appropriate weight-limit signs are hereby ordered posted.
This prohibition shall not apply to vehicles picking up or making deliveries to residents along said roads, residents along the road or public utility vehicles.
This prohibition may be waived from time to time only upon written application to the Town Superintendent of Highways, who shall submit the same together with a written opinion to the Town Board, who may permit a waiver requiring the applicant to fulfill conditions and safeguards for the protection of the roadbed and traffic safety as may be imposed by the Town Board.

Every person convicted of a traffic infraction for the violation of any of the provisions of this article shall, for a first conviction thereof, be punished by a fine of not less than $150 and not more than $250, or imprisonment of not more than 15 days, or by both such fine and imprisonment; for a second conviction within 18 months thereafter, such person shall be punished by a fine of not less than $250 and not more than $500, or by imprisonment for not more than 15 days, or both such fine and imprisonment; upon a third conviction within 18 months after the first conviction, such person shall be punished by a fine of not less than $500 and not more than $1,000, or by imprisonment for not more than 15 days, or both such fine and imprisonment.
