All installation of electrical work, all extensions thereto and all
alterations thereof within the City of Oneonta will be in conformity with
the provisions of this chapter and in conformity with the provisions of § 374-a
of the Executive Law of the State of New York that the City of Oneonta in the County of Otsego and State of
New York hereby accepts the applicability of the National Electrical Code
as sponsored by the National Fire Protection Association in its entirety and
with all its amendments.

A. Application for inspection. It shall be a violation of
this chapter for any person, firm or corporation to install or cause to be
installed or to alter electrical wiring for light, heat or power in or on
properties in the City until an application for inspection has been filed
with a city-approved electrical inspection agency. An application for inspection
and a certificate of compliance are required only if a building permit is
required for the construction being done or if requested by the property owner.
B. Temporary certificate. It shall be a violation of this
chapter for any person to connect or cause to be connected electrical wiring
in or on properties for light, heat or power to any source of electrical energy
supply prior to the issuance of a temporary certificate.
Installation of electrical work which fails to pass inspection shall
be corrected to the satisfaction of the inspector to conform to proper installation
standards pursuant to the requirements of this chapter.
