The Borough Council shall, by resolution, in accordance with state law, appoint a certified public accountant or firm of certified public accountants to audit the accounts, records and all other evidences of financial transactions of the Borough and Borough offices and to file a report thereof, and to perform all duties and to be subject to the same penalties and obligations as are imposed by law on an elected Borough auditor.
This chapter is enacted according to Act No. 116 of the General Assembly of 1963[1] and, as provided therein, upon appointment of said certified public accountant, the office of Borough Auditor is hereby abolished.

The resolution appointing said certified public accountant to act as auditor shall fix the compensation to be paid from the Borough funds for said services.
