A. 
The purpose of this chapter is to repeal any and all previous local laws of the Town of Montgomery regarding the creation, alteration and/or modification of Election District boundaries within the Town of Montgomery. Without intending to limit the foregoing, this local law is intended to repeal Town of Montgomery L.L. No. 2-1982 and L.L. No. 1-1991 in their entirety.
B. 
An additional purpose of this chapter is to authorize the Town Board of the Town of Montgomery to create, alter and/or modify Election District boundaries by resolution of the Town Board.
C. 
This chapter is enacted under the authority of the New York State Constitution, Article IX, § 2; the New York State Municipal Home Rule Law; the relevant provisions of the Election Law for the State of New York and the general power vested with the Town of Montgomery to provide for the establishment and modification of Election Districts for the convenience of the residents of those districts.
Effective immediately, the Town Board of the Town of Montgomery hereby is authorized to create and from time to time to alter and/or modify, Election District boundaries by resolution.
