A.
The aboveground storage of flammable or combustible
liquids in a G-I General Industrial District shall be limited to 1,500,000
barrels, and no one tank shall have a capacity greater than 100,000
barrels. A "barrel," as used herein, shall mean a barrel of 42 gallons'
capacity. Either or both limitations specified do not apply to petroleum
and chemical industries.
B.
All flammable and combustible liquids shall be stored
in tanks or other facilities designed to permit the safe and efficient
handling of such liquids. Such tanks or facilities may be of such
shape or design consistent with sound engineering design and shall
be constructed in compliance with regulations currently existing or
hereinafter promulgated by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration
pursuant to the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970 for Flammable
and Combustible Liquids, which regulations are currently set forth
in Section 1910.106 of the Code of Federal Regulations.
C.
Such flammable and combustible liquids may be stored
either underground or above ground and shall be limited only as provided
by this chapter, provided that such installations are consistent with
the Occupational Safety and Health Administration regulations.
D.
All flammable and/or combustible liquids tanks shall
be surrounded by a continuous embankment or dike. All drain openings
shall be equipped with proper shutoff valves to be closed at all times
except when being used to drain the dike.
E.
The location of storage areas shall be subject to
the approval of the Code Enforcement Officer. "Storage areas," as
used herein, shall not be construed to apply to the location of an
individual storage tank within a storage area but shall be limited
to the location of the storage area itself, unless a storage area
consists of only one tank. The location of storage tanks within a
storage area shall conform to the requirements of the Occupational
Safety and Health Administration.

No gasoline filling station pump in any district
shall be located within 10 feet of a street line or within 50 feet
of a residence or within 150 feet of the nearest point of the following:
public library, church, school or orphanage, hospital, assembly hall
or theater.
