As used in this chapter, the following terms shall have the meanings indicated.
PERSON
An individual; firm, partnership, corporation or association of persons.
TRAILER, MOBILE HOME AND/OR RECREATION VEHICLE
Any vehicle used or constructed or intended for use for conveyance upon public streets or highways, so designed, constructed or reconstructed that it can be used as or as to permit its occupancy as a dwelling, living or sleeping place for one or more persons or for the conduct of any business or profession or occupation or trade, whether self-propelled or non-self-propelled, standing on wheels only, with no foundations, jacks or skirting.
A. 
It shall be unlawful within the limits of the Village of Islandia for any person to park or store any mobile home, recreational vehicle, trailer, boat or boat trailer on any street, road, avenue, highway or front yard, whether publicly or privately owned, temporarily or otherwise, except as provided in this chapter.

(1) 
Parking or storage of one boat on a boat trailer, not to exceed 24 feet in length, is permitted in residential districts only and no other, in rear or side yard or driveway as defined in § 177-53D, not to project within 20 feet of any curbing nor impair any sight triangles as defined by § 177-100 of the Islandia Code.
(2) 
Parking or storage of a trailer, mobile home or recreational vehicle is permitted in residential districts only and no other, in rear or side yard or driveway as defined in § 177-53D, not to project within 20 feet of any curbing nor impair any sight triangles as defined by § 177-100 of the Islandia Code.
B. 
Emergency or temporary stopping or parking is permitted on any street, road, avenue or highway for not longer than 24 hours in any thirty-day period. No mobile home, recreational vehicle, boat or boat trailer, while so parked within the limits of the Village of Islandia, shall be used by any person as a dwelling, place of abode, sleeping place or place of business whether temporary or otherwise.
C. 
It shall be unlawful within the limits of the Village of Islandia for any person to store a boat on blocks on any street, road, avenue or highway or other place or tract of land, whether publicly or privately owned, occupied or unoccupied, whether temporarily or otherwise. All boats being stored on blocks as of the effective date of this chapter shall be removed on or before December 31, 1995.
D. 
No mobile home, recreational vehicle, trailer, boat or boat trailer shall be used by any person as a dwelling place of abode, sleeping place or place of business, whether temporarily or otherwise.

A. 
A construction trailer, for office purposes only, may be allowed upon a site whereon there is active construction of a nonresidential building, provided that such construction trailer shall be used only in connection with such building and shall not remain upon the premises for longer than two weeks past the completion of said building.
B. 
Notwithstanding anything to the contrary, a trailer for temporary living quarters, mobile home and/or recreational vehicle can remain upon a residential parcel in the case of disaster only for a maximum duration of six months subject to obtaining a permit from the Village Clerk upon the payment of the appropriate fees. The Village Board of Trustees may approve an extension of this time frame after a public hearing.
A violation of this chapter shall subject the violator to a fine of no more than $250 or by imprisonment of not more than 15 days, or by a combination of fine and imprisonment. The continuation of an offense against the provisions of this chapter shall constitute for each day the offense is continued a separate and distinct offense hereunder.
