It is the purpose of this article to modify the limitations on certain highway expenses set forth in Subdivision 3a of § 271 of the Highway Law.
This article is enacted pursuant to the provisions of § 10 of the Municipal Home Rule Law.
The title of this article shall be "Limitations of Amounts to be Raised for Purchase of Highway Equipment."
The amount to be raised by tax upon the vote of the Town Board shall be subject to the following limitation, notwithstanding the provisions of § 271 of the Highway Law: Unless duly authorized by vote at a special or biennial Town election, there shall not be levied and collected in any one year in the Town of Lewisboro, for the purchase of stone crushers, power rollers, motor trucks, scarifiers, concrete mixers, traction engines or road machines for grading and scraping, equipment, tools and other implements, an amount greater than $200.
