The purpose of this chapter is to enable the Town of Lewisboro
to claim against the proceeds of a policy of fire insurance insuring
the interest of an owner and issued on real property located within
the Town of Lewisboro to the extent of any tax lien thereon.
This chapter is enacted pursuant to § 22 of the General
Municipal Law of the State of New York.
The title of this chapter shall be the "Law Affecting Claims
Against Fire Insurance Proceeds."

The Town of Lewisboro will release or return to the insured
any amounts to which it would otherwise be entitled to claim under
the provisions of § 22 of the General Municipal Law of the
State of New York, provided that the insured agrees with the Town
of Lewisboro, in writing, to restore the affected premises to the
same or improved condition that it was in prior to the time that the
lien of the Town of Lewisboro against proceeds provided for in this
section arose, and further provided that the insured delivers to the
Town of Lewisboro, in form acceptable to the Town Board of the Town
of Lewisboro, a guaranty of the performance of such obligation, including
but not limited to an agreement to deposit such proceeds in an escrow
account or that the insured shall obtain a performance bond.
