In accordance with Article 7 of the Village Law of the State of New York, the Village Board is empowered to provide for certain zoning rules and regulations for the purpose of promoting the health, safety, morals and general welfare of the community. In furtherance thereof, this article would provide guidance for the management of growth and change in the primary commercial corridor of the Village while affirming the importance of functional commercial areas, the historical significance of the existing structures and the integrity of design guidelines based on New Urbanism principles.
The Village Board hereby approves and adopts the Village of Manlius Commercial District Design Guidelines, as contained in a document prepared by Environmental Design & Research, P.C., and John J. Behan, AICP, dated November 1997.[1]
