[Adopted 11-19-1979 by L.L. No. 3-1979; amended in its entirety 10-30-1995 by L.L. No. 5-1995]
The Board of Trustees may appoint an Acting
Village Justice who resides anywhere in Chautauqua County.
[Adopted 4-8-1987 by L.L. No. 5-1987;
amended 9-5-2006 by L.L. No. 6-2006]
The Board of Trustees of the Village of Westfield,
recognizing that there may well exist a difficulty in securing the
best person for a particular appointive Village office if the person
eligible to serve is restricted to Village residency and acting under
the authority granted by § 3-300 of the Village Law of the State
of New York, has determined that any appointed Village official need
not reside within the Village of Westfield but must reside within
the County of Chautauqua.
In the considering of positions of appointive
public office (e.g., Village Administrator, Clerk, Treasurer, Deputy
Clerk, Deputy Treasurer, Clerk to Justice), the Board of Trustees
shall consider eligible and qualified candidates who reside in the
Village, then the Town, and then finally the rest of Chautauqua County.
