As used in this Article, the following terms shall have the meanings indicated:
- CLOTHING ALLOWANCE
- The money allocated by the city for reimbursement for eligible fire fighters.
- ELIGIBLE FIRE FIGHTERS
- A member of the City Fire Department who has actual recorded attendance and rendering of fire service at not less than 60% of regular alarms of fire answerable by the City Fire Department members during any calendar year, and said number may include not more than 20 fire drills called at the direction of the Chief.
The amount of the clothing allowance to be paid to an eligible fire fighter shall be determined each year by the Council with the advice and consultation of the City Fire Department officers and designated Council representative.
The Council, by and through the designated Council representative, shall make quarterly inspections, in the company of the Chief, of all apparatus, equipment, property and records of the City Fire Department and thereupon shall take any corrective action necessary and shall designate a day in each year for public demonstration of apparatus, equipment, property and fire-fighting skills.
