The Building Subcode Official shall be appointed by the Mayor, with the advice and consent of the Council, to serve for a term of one year. Prior to his appointment, he shall be qualified by training and experience in the duties of a Building Subcode Official. The Building Subcode Official shall also serve as Zoning Officer and shall issue certificates of occupancy.
The Building Subcode Official shall:
A. 
Enforce the Building Code[1] and have all the powers, functions and duties prescribed by general law and ordinance for Building Subcode Officials.

B. 
Keep a record of all applications for building permits and a record of all permits issued, with a notation of all special conditions involved; keep a record of all certificates of occupancy issued, with a notation of all special conditions involved; and a record of all plans submitted to him. He shall be responsible for the safekeeping of copies of all plans submitted to him, and the same shall form a part of the records of his office and shall be available for the use of the Mayor and Council and of other officials of the Borough of Woodcliff Lake.
C. 
Make all necessary inspections required to assure that buildings within the Borough meet the standards and requirements of the Building Code.[2]

D. 
As Zoning Officer, enforce the provisions of Chapter 380, Zoning, of the Code of the Borough of Woodcliff Lake.[3]
