All buildings and lots of land along the streets, roads, avenues and highways of the Township of Wyckoff, in the County of Bergen and State of New Jersey, are hereby assigned street numbers in accordance with the numbers set forth on a key map entitled "Index to House Numbers," Township of Wyckoff, Bergen County, N.J., F. E. Harley, C. E., Township Engineer, October 19, 1948, scale of one inch equals 800 feet, the original of which said map is to be filed with the Township Clerk and to remain in his office as a permanent record.
Every lot, tract or parcel of land within the limits of the Township of Wyckoff is hereby assigned the number designated on the key map hereinbefore referred to, and each and every building shall be numbered and designated in accordance with said map. A number shall be assigned to every 50 feet of street frontage regardless of the original frontage of the lot or plot upon which said building is erected.

Every building within the limits of the Township of Wyckoff shall have its number conspicuously displayed on the street side of the building at or near the front or main entrance of said building, and said number shall not be less than three inches in height. If the location or identification number is not visible from the abutting street, identification numbers shall be placed immediately adjacent to the driveway, at a point not more than 25 feet from the curb or the abutting pavement of the street, so as to be visible from the abutting street, provided that, if the driveway does not intersect the abutting street, identification numerals shall be located at a point not more than 25 feet from the curb or pavement of the abutting street and at a location which shall make them visible from the abutting street.
The number or numbers applicable to said building shall be ascertained from the key map hereinbefore mentioned by the owner, occupant, tenant or agent thereof.

Said number or numbers for buildings within the limits of the Township of Wyckoff shall be ascertained and placed upon said buildings as hereinbefore provided not later than seven days after notice by the Police Department to the owner or occupant to place such number.

Upon the failure of any owner, occupant, tenant or agent to ascertain and affix upon any building or buildings the number or numbers applicable to said building or buildings as set forth on the above-mentioned key map within the time specified in § 96-5, it shall be lawful for the Township Committee of the Township of Wyckoff to designate its agent, by proper resolution, to affix to said building or buildings the number or numbers applicable thereto and as set forth on the key map hereinbefore mentioned, and said agent of the Township Committee shall make a return to the Township Committee of the cost of so affixing said number or numbers, and the Collector of Taxes of the Township of Wyckoff, upon certification to him, shall charge such amount to the owner or owners of the building or buildings and collect the same in the same manner as all taxes are collected, and such costs shall be a lien upon said land.

For each and every violation of any provision of this chapter, the owner, occupant, tenant or agent thereof, or any other person who shall fail to comply with the provisions of this chapter or permit, take part or assist in any violation of this chapter, or any person who maintains any building or premises or uses of any land where a violation of this chapter shall exist, shall, for each and every violation, be imprisoned in the Bergen County Jail for a period not exceeding 90 days or be fined not exceeding $500, or both, at the discretion of the Judge before whom such conviction may be had. Each and every day that such violation continues shall be considered a separate and specific violation of this chapter and shall constitute a separate offense and shall be punishable as such.
