As used in this article, the following terms shall have the meanings indicated:
BURIAL EXPENSE
Any expense validated with a receipt for the burial, cremation, or other disposition of mortal remains, including purchase of a coffin, burial plot and/or headstone, the rental of a hearse, and mortician fees.
ELIGIBLE EMPLOYEE
Any person who has served as a full-time police officer in the Borough of Tullytown in excess of 20 years.
FAMILY MEMBER
Any person who would take under intestacy from the eligible employee and children, stepchildren, grandchildren, and siblings of the eligible employee.
VALID RECEIPT
Receipt indicating services or items provided and name of deceased, produced by any person or company whose regular business is to provided for the burial item or service charged for.
The Borough of Tullytown shall pay up to $4,000 for the burial expense of an eligible employee.
A. 
In order to apply for burial expense benefits, the estate shall submit valid receipts to the Borough Manager of Tullytown. The estate will then be reimbursed for burial expenses up to $4,000.
B. 
If no estate exists, burial expenses paid for by family members shall be reimbursed to the family member who paid for the burial expense upon submission of a valid receipt and proof of the identity of the payor.
