The following minimum footing standards will not exclude an owner/contractor from reducing a footing design below the minimum standards, provided that the design is based on calculations made by a registered engineer or architect licensed in the State of Maryland. The Building Inspector may also modify these standards by increasing the design for the footings after an examination of the job site and he deems it necessary to increase the design standards.

For one-story and one-and-one-half-story single-family residences with crawl space:
