No person shall place or maintain or display upon or in view of any street any unofficial sign, markings, signal or device which purports to be or is an imitation of or resembles an official traffic sign or signal or which attempts to direct the movement of traffic. Every such prohibited sign, signal or device is hereby declared to be a public nuisance, and the police are hereby empowered to remove the same or cause it to be removed without notice.
No person shall willfully deface, injure, move, obstruct or interfere with any official traffic signs or signals.

No operator of any vehicle shall disobey the instructions of any traffic sign or signal placed in view by authority of the Board of Trustees or in accordance with the laws of the State of New York, unless otherwise directed by a police officer.

Whenever traffic at an intersection is regulated by illuminated signals, the following color shall indicate the following commands:
A. 
Red requires that vehicles faced by this color shall stop and remain standing.
B. 
Green requires that vehicles faced by this color shall move and continue in motion except to stop for the purposes of avoiding an accident.
C. 
Amber or yellow indicates a warning of change from green to red.
D. 
Intermittent flashing red requires that vehicles faced by this color shall come to a full stop before entering the intersection.
E. 
Intermittent flashing yellow or amber requires that vehicles faced by this color shall proceed with caution and stop before entering the intersection, if required for safety to stop.
