§ 206-2 Speed limits.

A. Except as set forth in Subsections B and C of this section, the speed limit on all streets within the Village of Great Neck Plaza shall be 30 miles per hour.

B. Subject to Subsection C of this section, the speed limit on the following streets within the Village shall be 25 miles per hour:

(1) Canterbury Road between Stoner Avenue and Grace Avenue;

(2) Chapel Place between Stoner Avenue and Grace Avenue;

(3) Clent Road between Brompton Road and Knightsbridge Road;

(4) Hillpark Avenue between South Middle Neck Road and Gilchrest Road;

(5) Knightsbridge Road between Clent Road and Great Neck Road;

(6) Brompton Road between Clent Road and Great Neck Road;

(7) Overlook Avenue between Middle Neck Road and Gilchrest Road;

(8) Park Place between Stoner Avenue and North Station Plaza; and

(9) Schenck Avenue between Middle Neck Road and Gilchrest Road.

C. Nothing is this section shall increase the speed limit on roads within the Village which, as of May 31, 2022, have a posted speed limit lower than 25 miles per hour.

§ 206-3 Street usage.

A. The following streets are hereby designated as no through streets for commercial vehicles in excess of five tons' gross weight:

Barstow Road (between South Middle Neck Road and South Station Plaza)

Brompton Road

Clent Road

Knightsbridge Road

Welwyn Road (east of Gilchrest Road)

B. Any street in the Village may be temporarily closed to the parking and/or circulation of vehicles when it is necessary to do so for purposes such as emergencies, repairs, snow removal, flooding or other similar reasons. Such temporary closings may be directed by the Board of Trustees either by local law or by resolution or, in cases of emergency, by the determination of the Village Commissioner of Public Works. The public shall be adequately notified of all such closings by signage on the affected streets.

§ 206-4 One-way streets.

The following streets are hereby designated as one-way for all vehicular traffic in the direction and within the limits noted below.

§ 206-5 Turns.

A. All southbound traffic on South Middle Neck Road is hereby prohibited from turning left onto Barstow Road.

B. All traffic exiting from Great Neck Mall Parking Lot to South Middle Neck Road is prohibited from making a left turn.

C. All eastbound traffic on Welwyn Road is hereby prohibited from making a right turn onto Garden Street.

D. All northbound traffic on Middle Neck Road is hereby prohibited from making a left turn into Elm Street.

E. All eastbound traffic on Elm Street is hereby prohibited from making a left turn onto Middle Neck Road.

§ 206-6 U-turns.

U-turns are hereby prohibited on the following streets:

B. All traffic westbound on Welwyn Road west of Gilchrest Road approaching the Shoreward Drive merge and traffic circle shall come to a full stop.

§ 206-8 Fire lanes.

The following are hereby established as fire lanes:

A. The easterly driveway to the Town House apartments on Cutter Mill Road, together with the entrance and exit thereto.

B. The westerly driveway to the Town House apartments on Cutter Mill Road, together with the entrance and exit thereto.

C. The service alley running through the block bounded by Middle Neck Road, Grace Avenue, Bond Street and North Station Plaza with entrances and exits at 6 Grace Avenue and at 4 Bond Street, together with said entrances and exits.

D. The service alley behind, and at the south end of, the Gardens at Great Neck Shopping Center with the entrance from South Middle Neck Road and the exit to Brompton Road, together with said entrance and exit.

E. The service alley between 31 and 33 Great Neck Road on the north side of the street opposite the entrance to the Gardens at Great Neck, together with the entrance and exit thereto.

F. The service alley on the north side of the building containing the Squire Movie Theater and the retail stores known as 113-117 Middle Neck Road, together with the entrance and exit thereto.

G. The service alley at the north end of the building containing the group of retail stores known collectively as 25 Cutter Mill Road, together with the entrance and exit thereto.

H. The service alley behind the group of retail stores known as 1-43 South Middle Neck Road having entrances and exits at the rear of 43 South Middle Neck Road off Barstow Road and adjacent to 10 South Station Plaza, together with the entrances and exits thereto.
