Any widow or minor children of a volunteer fireman who shall hereafter die as the result of injuries sustained in the course of performance of duty as a member of the Volunteer Fire Company shall receive a pension.
The amount of said pension shall total $2,500 annually, and shall be paid to the widow of the deceased fireman during her widowhood, or to the minor child or children of such fireman if he leaves no widow surviving, or to such minor child or children after the death of such widow.
The minor child or children of such widow shall be determined to be a minor if such child is under the age of 18 years or is legally unemancipated prior thereto.
The Mayor and Council shall make provision in its annual budget for the payment of any such pension, and the same shall be paid in the same manner as municipal employees are paid.
The authority for the enactment of this chapter is contained in N.J.S.A. 43:12-28.1, 43:12-28.2 as amended, and 43:12-28.13.
