As used in this article, the following terms
shall have the meanings indicated:
HOUSE SEWER
Applies to that part of any drain or sewer extending from
a point outside the building to its connection with a public sewer,
private sewer or septic tank.
Every building requiring drainage and which
is adjacent or accessible to a public sewer shall be properly connected
by a separate and independent connection with such sewer, and no such
building shall be used until such connection has been made in accordance
with the requirements of the Village Code. Where possible, the sewer
connection shall be made directly in front of the building, and in
no case shall the house sewer cross other private property without
special permission of the Village Board.
As used in this article, the following terms
shall have the meanings indicated:
BRANCH VENTS
The branches from the crown of fixtures trap to the main
vent.
HOUSE DRAIN
That part of the main horizontal drain and its branches inside
the walls of the building, vault or area and extending to and connecting
with the house sewer.
HOUSE SEWER
That part of the main drain or sewer extending from a point
five feet outside of the outer wall of the building, vault or area,
to its connection with the public sewer, private sewer or septic tank.
PRIVATE SEWER
All sewers that are not constructed by and under the supervision
of the Village of Irvington.
SOIL PIPE
Any line of pipe receiving the discharge of one or more water
closets, with or without other fixtures.
UNSANITARY — Applies to the following:
A.
Any fixture whose trap does not maintain a proper
seal.
B.
Any fixture not having a properly sufficient
water supply to thoroughly flush it out and keep it in a clean and
wholesome condition.
C.
Any drain, soil, waste or vent pipe which is
not gastight or emits foul or obnoxious gases or odors.
D.
Any drain, soil, waste or vent pipe that is
stopped or partially stopped up.
E.
Any water closet compartment which is not thoroughly
ventilated or has the floor saturated with urine or containing a foul
odor.
F.
Any imperfect fixture or trap.
G.
Any house drain not having a fresh air inlet
in good condition.
H.
Any work not conforming to the rules of this
Board.
I.
Anything which is detrimental to health.
VENT PIPE
Any line of pipe or special pipe provided to ventilate the
system of piping and to prevent trap siphonage and back pressure.
The gas pipe system must be constructed in accordance
with the regulations of the company supplying the district.
