The following types of solid waste shall be
deemed to be unacceptable solid waste:
A. Common industrial or hospital infectious waste, including
IVs, catheter tubes, syringes, needles, etc.
C. Gauzes (except a few gauzes mixed with household waste
is acceptable).
D. Any metal or cardboard drum with sealed lids.
E. Empty or partially full or full metal, plastic or
other containers containing or formerly containing oils, chemicals
or paints.
H. Leather tanning fluids or other commercial or industrial
fluids.
I. Commercial or industrial glues.
J. Hospital cafeteria waste mixed with other hospital
waste.
K. Doctors', veterinary and nursing home wastes.
L. Unknown or unapproved chemicals.
P. Paint, paint chemicals, solvents, stains and any other
substance which uses dyes of any kind or is used in the process of
making dyes.

Q. Any other hazardous, poisonous, noxious and/or dangerous
material which is otherwise prohibited by law to be disposed of, either
without precautions being taken or at all.

R. Construction and demolition waste which shall be defined
as provided by N.J.A.C. 7:26-1.4 and/or any successor regulation thereto,
which is incorporated by reference as though fully set forth herein
at length.

Any individual(s) including any such unacceptable
solid waste in their solid waste set out for scavenger pickup shall
be subject to any or all of the following sanctions:
A. The scavenger shall have the right to leave such individual's
solid waste at curbside and place a warning sticker on the container,
and the individual shall be responsible for removing the unacceptable
solid waste before the next collection date.
B. In the event that the scavenger accepts such solid
waste, whether with or without the knowledge that such contains unacceptable
solid waste, the individual(s) in violation will be held fully responsible
for the residual charges levied against the Borough caused by such
violation.
C. The individual(s) in violation of the terms of this article shall be punishable as provided in Chapter
1, General Provisions, Article
II, General Penalty.
D. No provision of this article shall be construed to
impair any common law or statutory cause of action or any other legal
remedy, including but not limited to any other violations provided
by the ordinances of the Borough of North Haledon for any violation(s)
thereof.
This article shall be enforced by the Police
Department, the Department of Public Works, the Borough Clerk, the
Department of Health, the Construction Code Officials, and such other
duly designated agents as authorized by resolution of the governing
body.
