The elective office of Superintendent of Highways
of the Town of Cobleskill is hereby abolished as of the first day
of January, 1994, and a Superintendent of Highways for the Town of
Cobleskill shall be appointed as provided in this article.
Effective immediately, as set forth in §
28-4 herewith, no Superintendent of Highways shall hereinafter be elected, and upon the expiration of the term of office of the Superintendent of Highways for whom no successor shall be elected, the Town Board shall appoint a Superintendent of Highways who shall hold office for a term of two years, commencing on the first day of January, 1994, upon the expiration of the term of office of the elective Superintendent of Highways on December 31, 1993.
This article shall supersede in its application
to the Town of Cobleskill Subdivision 1 of § 20 of the Town
Law with respect to the mode of selection of the Superintendent of
Highways in the Town of Cobleskill.
This article shall take effect immediately upon
filing with the Secretary of State and after approval by a majority
of the electors voting thereon in accordance with the requirements
of § 23 of the Municipal Home Rule Law.
