GENERAL REFERENCES
Vehicles and traffic — See Ch. 270.
Nothing in this chapter shall prohibit the setting aside of streets or sections thereof for a limited period of time for playground or other temporary purposes by the Board of Trustees. Such streets or sections thereof, while used for that purpose, shall be blocked from traffic and properly marked and supervised.
A. 
No person of any age shall ride a bicycle upon the sidewalk or pathway set aside for pedestrians upon either side of Main Street from the intersection of River and Main Streets to the intersection of Chestnut and Main Streets, except handicapped persons who are unable to walk.
B. 
No person over the age of 12 years shall ride any bicycle upon or along any sidewalk or pathway set aside for pedestrians in any public street or park of the Village except handicapped persons who are unable to walk.
A. 
It shall be unlawful for any person to operate roller skates, skateboards, scooters, sleds, coasting devices or other similar types of nonmotorized recreational and sports equipment with wheels or runners upon the public streets or alleys of the Village except on such streets and at such times as the Board of Trustees may designate from time to time.
B. 
Bicycles and other vehicles covered by the New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law are exempt from this section.
A. 
It shall be unlawful for any person to operate roller skates, skateboards, scooters, skis, sleds, coasting devices or other similar types of nonmotorized recreational and sports equipment with wheels or runners on or along any sidewalks or pathways set aside for pedestrians in the following areas or upon such sidewalks as the Board of Trustees may designate from time to time:
(1) 
Main Street from River Street to Pine Boulevard.
(2) 
Fair Street from Otsego Lake to Main Street.
(3) 
Hoffman Lane in its entirety.
(4) 
Pioneer Street from Otsego Lake to Elm Street.
(5) 
Chestnut Street from Lake Street to Susquehanna Avenue.
B. 
It shall be unlawful for any person to operate such equipment within the confines of any public parking area.
C. 
It shall be unlawful for any person to operate a skateboard upon public property without the use of protective headgear.
D. 
It shall be unlawful to use any such device within 20 feet of any pedestrian.
E. 
Such device may only be used during the hours of daylight.
F. 
It shall be unlawful for three or more persons to operate such devices within 100 feet of any other such device.
G. 
Anything heretofore notwithstanding, this section shall not apply to any device or vehicle commonly used to transport handicapped or disabled persons either with or without assistance of another person or under its own power. Also exempt from this provision shall be the use of any such vehicle when used by a child less than 12 who is under direct parental supervision or guardian in loco parentis supervision.
