§ 285-14 Maximum speed limits established on certain streets.

A. Maximum speed limits are established on portions of specified streets, as follows, and no person shall drive a vehicle on any part of a street where a maximum speed limit applies at a higher speed than the maximum prescribed for that part of the street:

B. Any person who violates any provision of this section shall be fined $35. Any person exceeding the maximum speed limit by more than five miles per hour shall pay an additional fine of $2 per mile for each mile in excess of five miles per hour over the maximum speed limit.

§ 285-15 Traffic signals at certain locations.

A. At the following locations, traffic signals as indicated below shall be erected (or are ratified if previously erected), and traffic at those locations shall be directed by those signals:

B. No driver of a vehicle shall disobey the directions of any traffic signal.

C. Any person who violates any provision of this section shall be fined $25 and costs.

§ 285-16 Prohibited right turns on red signal.

A. The following are established as intersections where drivers of vehicles headed in the direction or directions indicated are prohibited from making a right turn (or a left turn from a one-way street into another one-way street) on a steady red signal:

§ 285-17 Prohibited turns at intersections.

A. No driver of any vehicle traveling upon the first-named street at any of the following intersections, in the direction or directions indicated in each case, shall make a right turn and/or left turn into the second-named street, as indicated, at any time when such a turn is prohibited by this section:

B. Any person who violates any provision of this section shall be fined $25 and costs.

§ 285-18 Prohibited through traffic.

A. No driver of any vehicle shall enter the following streets during the hours indicated or the days indicated, except for local deliveries, or for a resident of that section of the Borough to have access to his or her home:

B. No person shall drive a vehicle on any one-way street other than in the direction established for traffic on that street.

C. Any person who violates any provision of this section shall be fined $25 and costs.

§ 285-20 Rotary traffic islands established.

A. The following are designated as rotary traffic islands: the circle at the intersection of Cypress Street and Longacre Boulevard.

B. No person shall drive a vehicle around a rotary traffic island otherwise than to the right of such island.

C. Any person who violates any provision of this section shall be fined $25 and costs.

§ 285-21 U-turns.

A. No driver of any vehicle, traveling upon any of the portions of the street, in the direction or directions indicated for that street, shall make a U-turn:

§ 285-22 Stop intersections.

[Amended 9-20-2001 by Ord. No. 1284]

A. The following intersections (in addition to intersections with the through highways established by § 285-19) are established as stop intersections, and official stop signs shall be erected (or are ratified if previously erected) in such a position as to face traffic approaching the second-named street (the intersecting or through street) on the first-named street (the stop street) in the direction or directions indicated for that intersection. Every driver of a vehicle approaching the intersection on the first-named street or stop street, in the direction indicated in each case, shall stop the vehicle as required by Section 3323(b) of the Vehicle Code,[1] and shall not proceed into or across the second-named street or intersecting or through street until he or she has followed all applicable requirements of that section of the law.

§ 285-23 Yield intersections.

A. The following intersections are established as yield intersections, and official yield signs shall be erected (or are ratified if previously erected) in such a position as to face traffic approaching the second-named street (the through street) on the first-named street (the yield street) in the direction or directions indicated for that intersection. Every driver of a vehicle approaching the intersection on the first-named or yield street, in the direction indicated in each case, shall slow down or stop the vehicle as required by Section 3323(c) of the Vehicle Code,[1] and then yield the right of way as required by that section.

§ 285-24 Passing of streetcars.

A. No driver of any vehicle shall pass a streetcar while the streetcar is in motion or while passengers are being discharged.

B. Any person who violates any provision of this section shall be fined $25 and costs.

§ 285-25 Motorized vehicles on recreational facilities.

A. No person shall operate any motorized vehicle, including, but not limited to, dirt bikes, minibikes, go-carts and motorcycles, on any recreational facility, including but not limited to, parks, playgrounds and ballfields.

B. Any person who violates any provision of this section shall be fined not less than $100 and not more than $1,000.
