A uniform system of numbering all structures and buildings, as shown on the map identified by the title "A Price County Uniform Building Numbering System" which is filed in the office of the Real Property Lister, is hereby adopted for use in the villages and towns of Price County. This map and all explanatory matter thereon are hereby adopted and made a part of this chapter.
A. 
All properties or parcels of land within the boundaries of the villages and towns of Price County, Wisconsin, shall hereafter be identified by reference to the uniform numbering system adopted herein, provided that all existing numbers of property and structures or buildings not now in conformity with provisions of this chapter shall be changed to conform to the system herein adopted within nine months from the date of passage of this chapter.
B. 
All properties on the east side of north-south roads and all properties on the north side of east-west roads shall be assigned even numbers. All properties on the west side of north-south roads and all properties on the south side of east-west roads shall be assigned odd numbers. An appropriate prefix of "N" or "W" will precede the number.
C. 
Each structure or building within the villages and towns shall bear the number assigned to the frontage on which the front entrance is located. In case a structure or building is occupied by more than one business or family dwelling unit, each separate front entrance of such structure or building shall bear a separate number.
D. 
Numerals indicating the official numbers for each structure or building or each front entrance to such structure or building shall be posted in a manner as to be visible from the road on which the property is located.
E. 
A red and white steel-embossed reflectorized sign or an aluminum reflectorized flag-style sign will be utilized to display the county numbering system. (Note: The steel-embossed signs are recognized in this chapter simply to grandfather existing signs, but it is the intent of this chapter for all new signs, including those signs installed as a replacement of a steel-embossed sign, to be aluminum reflectorized flag-style signs to provide for an effective County numbering system.) The letters and border will be reflectorized on a plain red background. The sign will be eight inches wide by necessary length. The top of the sign will have letters that display the town name. Below that will be the actual building number with three-inch numerals. The sign will be installed on a post of 6 1/2 feet to the right or left of the main driveway. The steel-embossed sign will be installed parallel to the road and the aluminum flag-style sign will be installed perpendicular to the road. It will be at the discretion of the village or town board as to where the two types of units will be utilized in their villages and towns.

F. 
Prior to a number being assigned, a latitude and longitude coordinate shall be obtained for the location where the new sign is to be erected. The coordinates and proposed number shall be reviewed by the individual assigning the number along with the Real Property Lister or by any individual working under the direction of the Real Property Lister to determine the accuracy of the proposed number as it relates to the parcel mapping completed by the Real Property Lister.

A. 
All village streets and town roads shall be named and signed within nine months from the date of passage of this chapter. If duplicate road names are now being used in the County, it shall be the responsibility of the town or village board to coordinate the change with the respective professionals working for Price County.

B. 
The village or town board or its designee, or an outside firm contracted by the village or town, shall be responsible for maintaining the road signs.

A. 
Price County, through the Law Enforcement Committee, shall be responsible for maintaining the numbering system.
B. 
Price County shall keep a record of all numbers assigned under this chapter.
C. 
Price County shall issue to any property owner in a village or town of Price County, upon request, a set of numerals for each structure or building or separate front entrance to such structure or building. In so doing, it shall issue only numerals for the number assigned to such structure or building under the provisions of this chapter; provided, however, that it may issue additional numerals in accordance with the official numbering system whenever a property has been subdivided or vandalism has taken place.

Beginning April 18, 2000, all structures and buildings requiring a uniform number according to the requirements of this chapter in existence in Price County prior to the date of the amendment of this chapter shall apply for and pay a fee to receive a uniform number. Failure to provide the required information to request a fire number shall result in a civil forfeiture determined by the Price County Board of Supervisors and posted in Chapter 290, Fees and Penalties, of the Price County Code, until the information is received by the respective Price County department. Each separate day such violation is continued shall constitute a separate offense.
