The owner of lands lying within the Township shall keep all brush, hedges and other plant life growing upon their property within 10 feet of any street and within 25 feet of the intersection of two streets cut to a height of not more than 2 1/2 feet where the Township Council shall deem it necessary and expedient for the preservation of the public safety.
The owner of such property mentioned in the preceding section shall cut such brush, hedges or other plant life to a height of not more than 2 1/2 feet, as provided in the preceding section, within 10 days after receipt of notice from the Township Council.
A. 
In addition to the penalty provided for in § 497-53, should such owner fail or neglect or refuse to cut such brush, hedges and other plant life to the height specified in § 497-50 within 10 days after notice to cut the same has been given them by the Township Council, then the brush, hedges and other plant life aforesaid shall be cut by or under the direction of the Township Engineer and the cost thereof assessed against the property.
B. 
In the event that the brush, hedges or other plant life shall be cut by the Township under the direction of its Township Engineer as provided in Subsection A above, the cost thereof shall be certified to the Township Council, who shall examine the certificate and, if found correct, shall cause the cost as shown thereon to be charged against the lands or, in the event that such cost is excessive, to cause the reasonable cost thereof to be charged against such lands.
C. 
The amount so charged shall forthwith become a lien upon such lands and shall be added to and become and form part of the taxes next to be assessed and levied upon such lands, to bear interest at the same rate as other taxes, and shall be collected and enforced in the manner and form provided by law for the collection of taxes.

A. 
Any person violating the provisions of this article shall be subject to the penalties as provided in Subsection B below.
B. 
Any person who violates any provision of this article shall, upon conviction thereof, be subject to a penalty as provided by § 1-15, General penalty, of this Code.
