It is hereby declared unlawful for any owner
or person in possession of any vacant land or lot in the vicinity
of buildings within the township to permit the same to be covered
with tall grasses or weeds.
It is hereby declared unlawful for any property
owner or person in possession of any premises in this township to
maintain trees or hedges that obstruct the proper lighting of the
streets, sidewalks and highways or to permit trees, hedges or tall
grasses to grow along the sidewalks in front of their lots as to obstruct
the use of the sidewalks or highways.
It shall be the duty of property owners or persons
in possession of any premises in the built-up sections of this township
to remove snow from the sidewalk in front of their respective premises
within 24 hours after the snowfall and at all times to keep said sidewalks
free and clear of snow, slush and ice.

Any person, firm or corporation violating any
provision of this article shall, upon summary conviction before any
District Justice of the Peace, pay a fine not exceeding $1,000 and
costs of prosecution; and in default of one payment of the fine and
costs, the violator may be sentenced to the county jail for a term
of not more than 90 days. Each and every day in which any person,
firm or corporation shall be in violation of this article shall constitute
a separate offense. All fines hereunder shall be payable to the Township
Treasurer.

Whenever hereafter any vacant land or lots in
the vicinity of buildings in this township shall have thereon tall
grasses and weeds that may, in the judgment of the Director of Health,
constitute a fire hazard or whenever hereafter a tree or trees, hedges
or tall grass or weeds upon or along the highways and streets or elsewhere
within the limits of this township shall become an obstruction to
public travel, either upon the sidewalks or the roadways of said highways
and streets, or whenever any tree or trees shall obstruct the proper
lighting of the highway, streets or sidewalks of the township, the
Director of Health or the Director of Public Works, in the case of
trees, hedges or tall grass or weeds obstructing public travel or
the proper lighting of highways, streets or sidewalks, shall notify
the owner or occupiers of the land or lot in front of or upon which
said tree or trees, hedges or grasses and weeds stand to remove said
obstruction within five days, and if said owners or occupiers shall
neglect or refuse so to do after notice as aforesaid, then said Director
of Health or the Director of Public Works, as the case may be, may
cause said work to be done at the cost of the property owner. The
expense of the necessary labor for doing the work, together with a
penalty of 10%, shall be charged against and paid by such delinquent
property owner, and in default of payment, the same shall be collected
by action in the name of the township as debts of like amount are
collected or by the filing of a municipal lien against the property
of such owner. The notice provided for by this section may be served
on the property owner by leaving the same at his place of residence
or, if he has no residence in the township, by leaving the same with
the tenant or occupant of the premises and mailing a copy thereof
to the owner at his last known address or, if the premises is vacant
or unoccupied, by posting the notice on the premises and mailing a
copy thereof to the owner as aforesaid.
