The Building Official shall review all building permit applications for new construction or substantial improvements to determine whether proposed buildings sites will be situated within any area of special flood hazard as defined by the zoning regulations and subdivision regulations of the Town of Ridgefield. If a proposed building site is in an area of special flood hazard, any proposed new construction or substantial improvement (including prefabricated and mobile homes) must:
A.
Be designed (or modified) and anchored to prevent flotation, collapse, or lateral movement of the structure;
B.
Use construction materials and utility equipment that are resistant to flood damage;
C.
Use construction methods and practices that will minimize flood damage; and
D.
Have received a development permit from the Planning and Zoning Commission of the Town of Ridgefield or its designated agent.
