[Amended 1-1-1992; 4-1996; 2-11-2003; 7-8-2008 by L.L. No. 4-2008]
A. Highway employees shall be granted eight hours of
sick time and non-highway employees shall be granted six hours of

and may accumulate up to 960 hours of sick time. To qualify, an employee
must have a doctor's authorization after being incapacitated more
than two days.
B. The Town Board of the Town of Greenwich hereby adopts
a Sick Leave Incentive Plan whereby at the time of retirement a lump
sum payment would be calculated by multiplying the number of unused
sick hours (maximum 960 hours) by the employee's rate of pay, then
the employee would receive 20% of this figure in a lump-sum payment.
Beginning January 1, 1983, disability insurance
for highway employees will be covered by the Town of Greenwich. Employees
will contribute $0.30 per week for this coverage. Disability benefits
coverage shall be as follows:
A. Seven calendar day waiting period,
B. Benefits payable for 26 weeks,
C. Benefits based on 50% of gross salary, not to exceed
$170 per week.
[Amended 7-8-2008 by L.L. No. 4-2008]
Work hours shall be 40 hours per week for highway

A. Any time actually worked in excess of 40 hours in
a work week shall be compensated for by overtime pay at a rate of
time and one-half. The following paid benefit days will be considered

hours. Additionally, the following conditions must also apply:
(1) The employee must be an active volunteer for either an emergency
ambulance service or for a fire company located in or serving the
Town of Greenwich.
(2) The call for assistance must come from an ambulance service or fire
company located in or serving the Town of Greenwich and must be related
to an emergency within the Town of Greenwich.
(3) During work hours the employee must first notify his or her department
head or foreman before responding to the call.

normal work hours.
(7) The Town of Greenwich shall not be liable in any way for employees
who respond to calls in accordance with this policy.
