Electric light and power shall be furnished
by the Borough Light and Power Department only under the rules and
regulations set forth in this Part 1 and under contracts entered into
between the Borough and customers thereof. No electric light or power
shall be furnished by any customer without a valid contract, as prescribed
by the Borough, having been entered into between such customer and
the Borough. In entering into such a contract, the customer shall
agree to be bound by and to adhere to all the provisions of this Part
1 and to any special provisions inserted into such contract by the
Light and Power Department because of special conditions and uses
of electric light and/or power by such customer in such premises.
Any failure on the part of any customer to comply with any of the
provisions of this Part 1 or of his contract shall annul such contract,
and the Borough of Lehighton, without further notice, may thereupon
cease to furnish electric light and/or power or limit the amount of
light and/or power, through either the use of appropriate equipment
of other method, to such customer upon such premises and may remove
any or all of its property from such premises.
No contract for electric service shall be transferable.
In every case, a new occupant of a property shall make application,
in writing, at the office of the Light and Power Department for a
contract. Otherwise, the new occupant shall be liable for all amounts
due and unpaid for electric light and/or power furnished to such property
under the previous contract.
A copy of the rate schedule and general terms,
special provisions, rules and regulations under which service is to
be rendered is available at the office of the Light and Power Department.
Standard contracts shall be for the terms as
specified in the statement of the rate, but where large or special
investment is necessary for the supply of service, contracts of longer
term than specified in the rate or with special guaranty of revenue,
or both, may be required to safeguard such investment.
