GENERAL REFERENCES
Bureau of Fire Prevention and Safety — See § 45-11B.

Pursuant to Section 11 of the Uniform Fire Safety Act (P.L. 1983, c. 383),[1] the New Jersey Uniform Fire Code shall be locally enforced in the Borough of Teterboro.

The local enforcing agency shall be the Borough of Teterboro through its Bureau of Fire Prevention and Safety. The composition, duties and membership of the Bureau shall be as provided in Chapter 45, Personnel, § 45-11B.[1]

Pursuant to Sections 15 and 17 of the Uniform Fire Safety Act,[1] any person aggrieved by any order of the local enforcement agency shall have the right to appeal to the Construction Board of Appeals of Bergen County.

In addition to the inspection and fees required pursuant to the Uniform Fire Safety Act and the regulations of the Department of Community Affairs, the following additional inspections and fees shall be required:
A. 
All industrial and commercial buildings and structures within the boundaries of the Borough of Teterboro not covered under the Uniform Fire Safety Act.
B. 
Eating and/or drinking establishments with a maximum permitted occupancy of less than 50 in which no alcoholic beverages are served.
C. 
Each non-life-hazard use shall register with the Bureau of Fire Protection. These uses shall be inspected once a year and shall pay an annual fee as set forth below for each use and/or building:

R-A shall only be inspected upon sale or change in tenant.
(2) 
Uses not classified above will be classified as a business use.
D. 
Uses required to register with the state as life-hazard uses shall not be required to register under this section.

E. 
At the discretion of the Fire Official, vacant buildings will be charged and inspected according to the previous use of the building.
