The survey, plan and system for the numbering of houses and buildings
prepared by the Borough Engineer, a copy of which is hereto attached and made
a part hereof, is hereby approved and adopted. Any person or persons wishing
to examine the survey, plan and system may do so at the office of the Borough
Secretary, located in the Borough Building, State Street, Baden, Pennsylvania.
On and after the passage and approval of this chapter, it shall be the
duty of each and every owner, trustee, lessee, agent and occupant of each
and every house, building or other structure in the Borough of Baden, to cause
the same to be numbered in accordance with this chapter and the system and
plan hereby adopted and approved.
The numbers shall be placed in a conspicuous place on or over each front
door, on the front transom bar, front transom glass or front show window,
over or on either side of the entrance, the said numbers to be of paint, metal
or enamel and at least three inches in height. The color of the numbers shall
be in contrast to the immediate background and shall be so placed as to be
in full view from the opposite side of the street.
It shall be unlawful to cover any house number with any sign, drapery
or other obstruction tending to conceal such number, and all old numbers shall
be removed from any house, building or other structure when a new number has
been assigned and when so directed by the Borough Engineer or Secretary of
Council.
The Borough Engineer and the Secretary of Council, or either of them,
are hereby authorized to require the numbering and renumbering of any house,
building or other structure in accordance with this chapter.
All even numbers shall be on the south and east side of the street,
and all odd numbers shall be on the north and west side of the streets. The
houses on short or intermediate streets shall be numbered uniformly with the
main streets paralleling them, whether they begin at the initial point or
not.
