The Town of Binghamton pursuant to New York
State Public Health Law adopts the following smoking policy which
is applicable to all buildings owned, occupied or controlled by the
Town of Binghamton.
Smoking is prohibited in all indoor places of
employment of Town employees under the jurisdiction and control of
the Town of Binghamton, except in areas specifically designated for
smoking. Smoking is prohibited in the Town of Binghamton Community
Center.

Smoking is permitted in designated outside areas
only.
Smoking is prohibited in all town-owned or -operated
vehicles occupied by more than one person unless all of the occupants
of such vehicle agree that smoking may be permitted.
A copy of this policy shall be posted upon the
Town bulletin board and a written copy shall be supplied upon request
to any existing or prospective employee.
Employees found smoking outside of designated
smoking areas will be considered in violation of this policy and may
be subject to the penalty prescribed by the State Commissioner of
Health.
The Town Supervisor shall be designated an agent
to assist in the enforcement of this policy by notifying employees
who are in violation.
