Pursuant to Article 10, § 150 of the Town Law of the State
of New York, it is hereby resolved that the Town of Olive establish a Police
Department.
The Town Board of the Town of Olive shall appoint police officers as
may be needed and fix their compensation.
For an individual to be eligible for the appointment of police officer, said individual must fulfill the qualifications and requirements set forth in Article 10, § 151 of the Town Law, Article
4, § 58 of the Civil Service Law, Article 10, § 209-q of the General Municipal Law and any other appropriate state or federal law.
Until such time as a Board of Police Commissioners is established, the
Police Department shall be under the supervision of the Town of Olive Supervisor.

The authority for this article is derived from Article 10, § 150
of the Town Law of the State of New York. The purpose of this article is to
establish a Police Department. The need for such an article is based upon
the ever-increasing population of the Town of Olive.
The position of the Constable of the Town of Olive is hereby abolished.
This article shall be effective upon filing the same pursuant to the
Municipal Home Rule Law. The Town Clerk shall notify the Commissioner of the
Division of Criminal Justice Service of the establishment of the Town of Olive
Police Department within 30 days of the effective date of this law.
