There is hereby created a Police Department of the Township of Raccoon which department shall consist of the Chief of Police and so many patrolmen as the Board of Supervisors shall from time to time determine to be necessary for the adequate protection of persons and property in the Township of Raccoon.
Members of the Police Department shall be paid such compensation as the Board of Supervisors shall from time to time determine to be proper and adequate compensation for the services required.

The Board of Supervisors may enact retirement and pension plans and other social welfare plans for the benefit of the members of the Police Department and their dependents. Any such plans which may be now in effect are hereby ratified.
Members of the Police Department shall be under and subject to the control of the Board of Supervisors pursuant to the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
