Any theater or public places of entertainment
exhibiting motion pictures, whether of motion picture film or substitute
thereof, shall be required to have a Class A licensed motion picture
projectionist (professional theatrical) operating the motion picture
machines, projectors or other such machines, devices or equipment
required to project or exhibit motion picture film or substitute thereof.
Such projectionist shall be required to be present in the projection
room or other area so designed to house the projection equipment at
all times during the operation of the theater or when projection equipment
is being operated, maintained or serviced.
Any theater which simultaneously exhibits more
than one motion picture film, such as multiple auditorium theaters,
and one continuous projection room is utilized; one projectionist
shall be permitted to operate all projection equipment within, provided:
such equipment must be equipped with fail safe devices which in the
event of a film break or equipment malfunction will cause the projector
to stop, the projection lamp to be turned off and an alarm to sound.
Also, in any multiple theater complex where the projection equipment
for each auditorium is separated by more than 36 feet, or their observation
is obscured from any given point in the projection room, cross signal
systems or remote status indicator and alarm systems shall be installed,
so as to immediately alert the projectionist of the exact location
of any equipment malfunction and as to the condition status of the
operations of the equipment.
Enforcement of the provisions of this article
shall be the jurisdiction of the Fire Department Chief and/or Marshal.
Any projection room that has been approved by the department shall
be maintained in the condition in which it was approved. Any modifications
or alterations to the projection room must have departmental approval,
and any malfunctioning cross signal systems or alarm systems must
be corrected immediately. The Fire Department Chief and/or Marshal
shall have the power to inspect and enforce the provisions of this
article at any time.

Any person, firm or corporation who shall violate
any provision of this article shall, upon conviction thereof, be sentenced
to pay a fine of not more than $1,000 plus costs and, in default of
payment of said fine and costs, to a term of imprisonment not to exceed
30 days. Each day that a violation of this article continues shall
constitute a separate offense.
