All buildings within the Village shall be officially
numbered as follows:
A. On streets, avenues and highways extending in an easterly
and westerly direction, beginning at the most westerly termination
thereof and numbering consecutively easterly, allowing one number
for each plot of 25 feet or fraction thereof, with odd numbers on
the south side and even numbers on the north side of such street,
avenue or highway.
B. On streets, avenues or highways extending in a northerly
and southerly direction, beginning at the most southerly termination
thereof and numbering consecutively northerly, allowing one number
for each plot of 25 feet or fraction thereof, with odd numbers on
the east side and even numbers on the west side of such street, avenue
or highway.
In case more than one building shall be erected
on any 25 feet or fraction thereof, the official number designated
on the official map for such plot shall be placed on the first house
on such plot in the order of the numbering, and on the other buildings
on such plot, there shall be placed the official number followed by
the letters A, B, C, etc., in the order of numbering.
The Village Engineer shall prepare a map showing
the official numbers of each twenty-five-foot plot or fraction thereof
on each street, avenue or highway in the Village in accordance with
this chapter. Such map, after being approved by the Board of Commissioners,
shall be filed in the office of the Village Clerk and shall be open
to inspection by residents of the Village for the purpose of determining
the official numbers of the buildings in the Village.
The owner, occupant, lessee or person in possession
of any building in the Village, at his own expense, shall place thereon
in some conspicuous place such official number as may be adopted and
designated for such building.
Any person, firm or corporation who shall violate any of the provisions of this chapter shall be punishable, upon conviction, as provided in Chapter
1, General Provisions, Article
II, General Penalty.
