The purpose of this chapter is to enable the Borough Council of the Borough of Trappe to delegate administrative and enforcement functions relating to ordinances and regulations of the Borough with respect to fire prevention, firefighting, investigation of cause and origin of fires, storing, transporting and using hazardous materials, and property, construction, maintenance and use relating to fire safety and prevention.
The office of Fire Marshal is hereby created by the Borough Council of the Borough of Trappe.

The Fire Marshal shall be appointed by the Borough Council of the Borough of Trappe and shall serve at the pleasure of the Borough Council. The Fire Marshal may be an employee of the Borough, an independent contractor, or an employee of a neighboring municipality.

The qualifications and compensation for the Borough Fire Marshal services shall be set forth in the agreement between the Borough and the Fire Marshal service provider, which shall be approved by ordinance or resolution of the Borough Council from time to time as may be required by law.
The Fire Marshal shall be subject to the directives of Borough Council and to the Borough Manager. The Borough of Trappe Fire Marshal shall be specifically authorized to enforce any and all ordinances and regulations of the Borough relating to fire prevention, firefighting, the storing, transporting and use of hazardous materials, the investigation of cause and origin of fires, the construction, maintenance and use of property and structures within the Borough, with respect to fire prevention and fire safety, the regulation of fire lanes, parking regulations for fire protection, safety and access of fire equipment, the regulation of appropriate signage, demolition of structures necessary for fire prevention and fire safety, studies and review of municipal procedures with respect to fire prevention, the coordination of fire-fighting services, control and access to fire-fighting scenes, coordination of crowd control at accidents, fires and emergency situations, and such other ordinances, regulations and/or policies duly adopted by Borough Council relating to fire protection and fire safety, which Borough Council may, by resolution, ordinance or directive, specifically delegate to the Fire Marshal.
