the Town of South Berwick 2-23-2009. Amendments noted where applicable.]
GENERAL REFERENCES
Vehicles and traffic — See Ch. 130.
The Town Clerk is authorized to sell and distribute
parking permits to South Berwick residents for the parking of motor
vehicles in any municipally owned parking lot so designated by the
Town Council, under such conditions and at such rates as determined
by the Town Council and at the Town Manager's discretion.
A.
With the exception of those parking spaces designated
with appropriate signage, no motor vehicle shall be parked in any
municipal permitted parking space, without the benefit of a permit
issued by the Town Clerk. The permit shall indicate the lot and space
number assigned, the name of the owner of the permit and the expiration
date of said permit. The permit must be conspicuously displayed on
the driver's side of the dashboard. In addition to any parking violation
notice issued as provided in this chapter, vehicles found in violation
of this section may be towed from the lot and stored, the expenses
of both to be paid by the registered owner of the vehicle.
B.
Permits will be issued on an annual basis, expiring
December 31 of each year. Fees will be prorated from the month of
purchase to the end of the calendar year. A portion of a month will
be charged for the entire month.
C.
Permits will be issued on a first-come-first-served
basis. The maximum number of permits issued to any one person/household
or business at one time shall be limited to two per month. Priority
will be given to those persons renting a local apartment that does
not have adequate parking available.
D.
Permits may be issued to ADA-approved residents for
any municipal parking lot on a case-by-case basis.
