The plan attached to original Ordinance 170, passed March 26, 1979, and made a part of this chapter by reference, regulating the numbering of houses and buildings, is hereby approved and adopted.

The Township Code Official shall administer this chapter. He or she shall at all times maintain an official Township house numbering map showing all house or building numbers assigned. Such map shall be kept in the Township Building and shall be open for examination to the residents of the Township.

After the effective date of this chapter (Ordinance 170, passed March 26, 1979), the Township Code Official shall notify the owner or occupant of each house and building in the Township of the number assigned thereto and of the owner's or occupant's duty to place the assigned number on the house or building within 30 days of the receipt of such notice. Notice shall be deemed sufficient when put in writing and either sent by mail to the owner or occupant or delivered to the house or building to be numbered.

The numbers shall be placed in a conspicuous place on, over or near the front door, or on a mail box located near the street in front of the house or building. The numbers shall be at least two and one-half inches in height, the color of the numbers shall be in contrast with the immediate background and the placement of the numbers shall be in full view. No person shall cover any house or building number with anything whatsoever, or conceal it in any way, and all old numbers shall be removed from any house, building or structure when a new number has been assigned and when so directed by the Township Code Official.

A subdivider, land developer or builder shall submit a house numbering plan, prepared in accordance with the official Township house numbering plan, to the Township Code Official for approval thereof at the time a building permit application is made. When approved, house numbers shall be assigned and shall be erected by the subdivider, land developer or builder in the same manner as provided in this chapter for others within the Township.

No person shall number or attempt to number any house or building contrary to this chapter and the plan hereby approved and adopted, fail or neglect to number a house or building in accordance herewith or fail to change the number thereon after notification by the Township Code Official. No person shall alter, deface, remove or destroy any number required to be displayed under this chapter.

Any person who violates or fails to comply with any of the provisions of this chapter shall be fined in the amount of $25 and the costs of prosecution, if any.
