The purpose of this chapter is to confer the benefits of § 18 of the Public Officers Law of the State of New York upon the public officers and employees of the Town of Italy, Yates County, New York.

This chapter is enacted pursuant to the provisions of § 18 of the Public Officers Law of the State of New York.
This chapter shall hereafter be known as "The Public Officers and Employees Defense and Indemnification Law of the Town of Italy."
The Town of Italy confers upon its public officers and employees the benefits of § 18 of the Public Officers Law of the State of New York. The Town of Italy further accepts liability for those costs and expenses which are included within the scope of § 18 of the Public Officers Law and incurred by its public officers and employees. For the purposes of this chapter, the term "employee" shall have the definition set forth in said § 18 of the Public Officers Law of the State of New York.
