A. 
The term "false alarm" as used in this section shall mean any emergency message or signal which is transmitted, directly or indirectly, to a law enforcement or emergency services agency, and to which law enforcement or emergency services personnel respond, and which signal is not the result of a robbery, burglary, other crime, fire or emergency. An activated alarm signal which is promptly followed by a call to the law enforcement or emergency services agency properly giving notice that the signal is to be disregarded shall not constitute a false alarm.
B. 
The owners and adult occupants of any premises from which a false alarm is issued shall be subject to punishment by fine as stated hereinafter:
(1) 
First through fourth false alarm in any calendar year: no penalty.
(2) 
Fifth through 10th false alarm in any calendar year: $50 for each such false alarm.
(3) 
Each additional false alarm in any calendar year: $100 for each such additional false alarm.
C. 
Failure of any owner or occupant to pay a fine imposed by this section within 30 days after receipt of written notice of the same shall subject such person to an additional fine of $250 for each week such violation continues.
