A. No person shall cause, suffer or allow any animals or household pet
to run at large or be at large within the Village of Greenwood Lake.
B. No person shall cause, suffer or allow any household pet or other
animals to run at large or be at large or to be leashed or unleashed
on any of the lands of the Village of Greenwood Lake which are used
for playground or park purposes.

As used in this chapter, the following terms shall have the
meanings indicated:
HOUSEHOLD PET
A domesticated pet kept for companionship and enjoyment.
Cats, dogs, ferrets, pot-bellied pigs, hamsters, guinea pigs, gerbils,
chinchillas, parrots, cockatoos, cockatiels, parakeets, canaries and
finches are considered household pets.

A. Any person owning or harboring a household pet shall not suffer or
allow it to run at large on any of the streets or public places of
the Village of Greenwood Lake or upon the premises of anyone other
than the owner or keeper unless the owner or occupant of such premises
grants permission; and no household pet shall be permitted in any
public place or street within the Village of Greenwood Lake unless
it is effectively restrained by a chain or leash not exceeding six
feet in length and unless it is attended by a person of adequate age
and discretion properly to control its actions.
B. Any person who is the owner, keeper, harborer, person in charge of
or person walking or riding any household pet or other animal shall
immediately pick up any feces expelled by such dog on any property
the owner of which has not given permission therefor and deposit them
in a container lawfully used for the disposal of refuse and owned
by the person responsible for said household pet or animal.

No person shall permit, keep or maintain any dog on any premises
within the Village of Greenwood Lake except upon proper license by
duly authorized authorities.
No person shall permit, keep, maintain or collect bees, cattle,
horses, sheep, fowl, goats, pigeons, swine or any wildlife, except
as to small animals commonly used or known as "household pets," in
any building or on any property within the Incorporated Village of
Greenwood Lake.

Any police officer of the Village of Greenwood Lake or any animal
warden duly appointed by the Village Board of Trustees of the Village
as Animal Warden for the Village of Greenwood Lake shall be empowered
to pick up, take or capture for purposes of impounding any animal
found running at large on any of the streets or public places of the
Village of Greenwood Lake or found on the premises of anyone other
than the owner or keeper upon request of the owner/occupant of the
premises upon which the animal is found and shall be empowered to
issue summonses for the violation of any section of this chapter.

The keeping, collecting or maintaining of dogs or cats of more
than five in number in any single household unit for a period in excess
of 30 days, with the exception of puppies or kittens, which may be
kept or maintained for a period not in excess of 60 days, within the
Village of Greenwood Lake shall be prohibited.

No person shall keep, permit, leave, abandon, maintain or allow any domestic animal, bird or other household pet in any manner which shall disturb the comfort, peace or repose of any persons in the vicinity by continued or frequent noise, as further described and regulated by §
69-3J of Chapter
69, Noise, of the Code of the Village of Greenwood Lake.

Except as otherwise provided in § 119 of the Agriculture
and Markets Law, any person found guilty of violation of any section
of this chapter shall be punishable by a fine of not more than $250
or by imprisonment for not more than 15 days, or by any combination
of such fine and imprisonment.
