For the purpose of this chapter, the following terms shall have
the following meanings:
COLLECTOR STREET
A street which serves or is designed to serve as a trafficway
for a neighborhood or as a feeder to a major street and is so designated
on the Village Comprehensive Plan.
DEAD-END STREET
A street or a portion of a street with only one vehicular
traffic outlet.
EASEMENT
Authorization by a property owner for the use by another,
and for a specified purpose, of any designated part of his property.
MAJOR STREET
A street which serves or is designed to serve primarily through
traffic and is so designated on the Village Comprehensive Plan.
MINOR STREET
A street intended to serve primarily as an access to abutting
properties.
OFFICIAL MAP
The map established by the Village Board under § 7-724
of the Village Law showing the streets, highways, parks and drainage
systems theretofore laid out, adopted and established by law and any
amendments thereto adopted by the Board of Trustees or additions thereto
resulting from the approval of subdivision plats by the Board of Trustees
and the subsequent filing of such approved plats.

PRELIMINARY LAYOUT
The preliminary drawing or drawings indicating the proposed
manner of layout of the subdivision that may be submitted to the Board
of Trustees for its consideration.

RIGHT-OF-WAY
The area shown of the plat or map as set aside for highway
purposes, the width of which extends from property line to property
line.
STREET
Includes streets, roads, avenues, lanes or other ways.
STREET PAVEMENT
The wearing or exposed surface of the roadway used by vehicular
traffic.
SUBDIVIDER
Any person who shall lay out for the purpose of sale or development
any subdivision or part thereof, as defined herein.
SUBDIVISION
The division of any parcel of land into two or more lots,
plots, sites or other divisions of land for the purpose, whether immediate
or future, of transfer of ownership or building development and shall
include resubdivision.
SUBDIVISION PLAT or PLAT
The final map or drawing on which the subdivider's plan
of subdivision is presented to the Board of Trustees for approval
and which, if approved, will be submitted to the County Clerk for
recording.

VILLAGE COMPREHENSIVE PLAN
A Comprehensive Plan for development of the Village which
indicates the general locations recommended for various public works,
places and structures and for the general physical development of
the Village and includes any part of such plan separately adopted
and any amendment to such plan or parts thereof.
