In recent years the number of multiple dwellings in the Village of Medina has increased significantly. As more people become occupants of multiple dwellings it is important to assure the health, safety, morals, welfare and reasonable comfort of those occupants. To accomplish this goal, this Board of Trustees finds that it is necessary and desirable to establish rules and regulations to prevent overcrowding of multiple dwelling rooms, to assure adequate provisions of light and air, to assure adequate provisions of fire escapes and protection and to assure proper sanitation. The Board further finds that the adoption of such rules and regulations are necessary and essential to the public welfare and that the most expeditious method of accomplishing this goal will be the adoption of provisions of the Multiple Dwelling Law of the State of New York making such provision applicable to dwellings within the limits of the Village of Medina as authorized by § 3 of the Multiple Dwelling Law.
All of the provisions of Articles 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10 and 11 of the Multiple Dwelling Law of the State of New York is hereby adopted by the Village of Medina and made applicable to dwellings within the limits of the Village of Medina.
The Department of Code Enforcement of the Village of Medina and the Code Enforcement Officer of the Village of Medina are hereby authorized and charged with the duty of enforcing the above provision of the Multiple Dwelling Law within the Village of Medina and shall have the power set forth in such law and the power to issue appearance tickets in connection with such enforcement.
This chapter shall take effect on June 1, 1997.
