Editor’s Note: This local law was approved by the County Legislature 8-7-2014 over the veto of the County Executive and was approved at referendum 11-4-2014.
There shall be a Department of Highways headed by a Highway Superintendent who shall be appointed by and serve at the pleasure of the County Executive, subject to confirmation by the Legislature. He or she shall be appointed on the basis of his or her education, professional experience and his or her qualifications for the duties of the office.
The Superintendent shall exercise the powers and duties provided for by this Charter and applicable law and he or she shall perform such other and related duties required by the County Executive.
