A "gasoline station," as that term is used in this article, is defined as being any place or location, whether indoor or outdoor, whether permanent or temporary, whether by tanker truck or other vehicle or container unit and whether located on public or private property which is so equipped with facilities, whether manual, mechanical or automatic where gasoline, oil products or other flammable fuel used in the operation of motor vehicles or any type of internal combustion engine, are dispensed or pumped into the fuel tank of any vehicle or into any container brought to such station or location.

A self-service gasoline station, as that term is used in this article, is defined as a gasoline station where gasoline, oil products or other flammable fuel is dispensed in any manner other than solely and completely by the owner-lessee-agent or authorized employee of the gasoline station.

Every gasoline station shall be equipped with automatic overhead fire suppression systems with canopies over all pumps. Said fire suppression system to be so constructed that once triggered, power cannot be restored to the pumps until the system is recharged. The release mechanism for such fire suppression system must be mechanically operated. For self-service, gasoline stations, the mechanism must be at the attendant's console, which console shall have full control of the pumps.

The provision of this article shall apply to all gasoline stations which become operational or become self-service after the effective date hereof.
