Excepting existing master meters, all water customers must install
a water meter. If this is not done, water will be shut off.
Three-fourths-/five-eighths-inch meters will be furnished by
the Water Department for properties located within the Village. Larger
meters are to be furnished by the customer and must be satisfactory
to the Water Department. Water customers located outside of the Village
shall pay for their own meter, the make and model of which must be
approved by the Water Department.
Any damage to a meter by freezing or otherwise, except natural
wear, must be paid for by the customer.
If a meter fails to work correctly, the customer will be charged
at the average daily consumption as shown by the meter when it was
in order.
Faulty Village-owned meters will be repaired or replaced by
the Water Department.
All water passing through a meter will be charged for, whether
used or wasted, and no deductions will be made for leaks or for the
filling of swimming pools.
If it appears that a line running from the Village line to an
out-of-Village consumer either has a leak or is in a state of disrepair,
the Village may install a meter at the Village line, and the out-of-Village
consumer shall be responsible for all water passing through said meter.
The Village shall install water meters after a meter pit has
been installed at the Village water line for all new out-of-corporation
users.
