The Purchasing Agent shall be appointed by the Mayor with the
advice and consent of the Borough Council for a term of one year beginning
January 1 of each year, except the initial Purchasing Agent shall
serve from the date of appointment until December 31 or until the
person's successor is appointed, whichever occurs later. Such
person may be a full-time or part-time employee of the Borough. In
addition, the person must be a citizen of the United States, of good
moral character, a high school graduate or equivalent, and have two
years of higher education or two years of governmental experience.
In the event the New Jersey Legislature promulgates laws governing
the activities and appointment of Purchasing Agents, the Borough Purchasing
Agent shall take whatever courses and exams which may be required
pursuant to such laws.
