The Township, among the powers granted under the First Class
Township Code and the Emergency Medical Services System Act, Act of
August 18, 2009, P.L. 308, No. 37, as amended (the "code"), in furtherance of the health, safety and welfare of the
residents of the Township, is empowered to enter into contracts for
the purpose of providing ambulance services and emergency medical
care within the Township. The Board of Commissioners ("Board") desires
to acknowledge and designate the Manheim Township Ambulance Association
("Ambulance Association") as the entity to provide ambulance services
and emergency medical care within the Township, subject to the terms
of an agreement as to ambulance services ("agreement") substantially
in the form of the agreement attached to this chapter.
The Ambulance Association is hereby acknowledged and designated
as the primary entity to provide ambulance services, including basic
life support (BLS) and advanced life support (ALS), and emergency
medical care within the Township pursuant and subject to the terms
of the agreement, and the President or Vice President of the Board
and the Manager-Secretary or Assistant Manager-Secretary of the Township
are hereby authorized and directed on behalf of the Township to review,
revise and to enter into the agreement with the Ambulance Association
and to execute and deliver the agreement to the Association.
